Some More From the Commentary
Ascension Parish is quickly running out of economically sound options for establishing
parish-wide water and sewer systems.
Currently, residents in the second fastest growing parish in the state must rely on small
water systems, many producing
discolored liquids some consumers are loathe to actually consider water. Parish Engineer
Glenn Shaheen, of Glenn Shaheen and
Associates, told the Parish Council last week "Ascension Parish has the highest
number of water quality violations in the state".
Unquote.
Only last week, I read in the Advocate that several other parishes are growing faster than
Ascension.
GROWING POPULATION is the NUMBER of PEOPLE that moved into the PARISH. Actual number of
live people, not
PERCENTAGE of previous census.
Advocate readers in other parishes upon reading Mr. Fryer's description of Ascension
Parish's method of handling problems
by the present Council - what to they think?
Six years ago, Ascension Parish changed from a Police Jury system to a Parish Council. for
the past 200 years, almost
everything was blamed on the Police Jury.
Here we are, only about eight months from the final vote for new parish office holders.
All candidates that hope to oppose the present office holders in all positions should be
able to find campaign material in
commentaries such as this one.
From the article:
"Final project plans should be complete by April 30 and Council authorization could
be given by May 18. Work could
begin in September, COUNCIL MEMBERS were told."
"Council Members have questions about the project, and they, after years of failed
attempts, they need to make sure this plan
is adequate for their needs before they approve it". Unquote.
What other attempt has there been other than Ogden Yorkshire?
Will this become part of the election?
Now, there were several attempts to get the RIGHT PEOPLE named to the TOURIST COMMISSION.
