Is there trouble in La-La Land?

Sheriff wiley has been featured on the front page of The Advocate and on a one-hour talk show on the radio.

Upon reading the two front page articles on Wiley and the Courthouse, I immediately came to the conclusion that things were
not going as well among the elite of elected Ascensionites. Along with this, the Mayor of Donaldsonville is unhappy with
Representative Juba Diez, and is writing Letters to the Editor to establish that fact.

Well, a couple of days after the first article on Sheriff Wiley, one begins to hear other things that are taking place among the
elite, such as this: The Parish President went to two members of the OLD POLICE JURY NEW TWO YEAR COUNCIL to
request that they RERUN for their old office against the two men the President supported against them two years ago. Could that
possibly be true?

I was at a drug store Thursday, 1-7-99 and ran into someone and I mentioned to that person that it was hard to believe what
I read in the paper about building a new three story courthouse next to the obsolete court facility.

That person says to me some of the COUNCIL MEMBERS said that they were never shown a picture of the proposed
Courthouse. Now this person may be an AVID OPPOSER of the ELITE and was only trying to stir up trouble. Also, there is a
more likeable possibility that this is true.

The OUR OPINION of the 1-8-99 Advocate had a short article questioning Sheriff Wiley's great solution to Juvenile Crime
- apparently the OPED writer did not confer with Mr. John McMillan.

Now, in the same paper, Mr. John McMillan had an interesting article on the performing arts theater (the Parish Council
meeting).

It seems that Mr. Joseph Pierre and I are on the same side in regards to EXOTIC DANCE CLUBS (Strip joints) being built
in Mr. Joseph Pierre's district without Mr. Pierre's permission. It seems also that Sheriff Wiley was not in favor either.

On top of that, there is sewer trouble also in Mr. Pierre's district and this also upset him. I wish I would have been there to
listen to the sermon that was delivered.

That is no way to treat a Council member that helped on the President's veto a few months back.

What a great election year coming up. It should equal or even surpass the Falterman-Carmouche District Attorney race
approximately 10 years ago.

Every week there were several pages of Letters to the Editor from both sides.
