"Board Rethinking Bridge Culvert Policies"

This headline is from an article in the Metro section of The Advocate 1-26-99. This was an interesting article, as it appears
that maybe the Police Jury Council (or should I say someone on the Council) has awakened and realizes that the Council can no
longer afford the Police Jury system of yesterday.

Which brings to mind something that took place last weekend, January 21, 22, 23 & 24 at the Ascension Civic Center in
Sorrento - What do I mean?

CHUCK HOMIER'S ANNUAL SALE

There was a full four-page mailout of articles for sale and prizes.

Someone that went to the sale a couple of times on different days said that there were five make SHIFT cashiers and there
were long lines at each cashier. Also that many of the people in the front of him had two to three hundred dollars of goods.

After thinking about what was said about the make shift cashiers, a new thought came to my thinking: I wonder how much
sales tax the Parish and State received from this annual sale? How much RENT did the Parish receive from this four-day annual
sale? Who from the parish VERIFIED that the State and Parish received all taxes due?

I hope that many of the local businesses that sell the same items that the Parish promoted in this annual sale remember this in
the October General Election.

The people holding this sale have not spent plenty of money building a building to sell their wares in and pay yearly taxes to
the Parish. I wonder if they even had to purchase a permit or license from the Parish.

Will this sale take place next year after the NEW PLANNING and ZONING law goes into effect June 1, 1999?
